Claude's already in your Copilot. It's just switched off.
25 October 2026
On Friday I saw that Regeringskansliet is blocking ChatGPT and Claude on staff computers from Monday 26 October and telling everyone to use Copilot instead. Skatteverket has done much the same, SVT says.
What made me laugh is that Microsoft added Claude to Microsoft 365 Copilot earlier this year. You can choose it in Researcher, Copilot Studio and Copilot in the Office apps, such as Word, and it's covered by Microsoft's own contract, with Anthropic as a subprocessor. So the banned AI is, in a way, already inside the approved one.
In Sweden, and the rest of the EU, it's off by default, so most people never see it. If you're the admin, you'll find it here in the Microsoft 365 admin centre:
Copilot > Settings > View all > AI providers operating as Microsoft subprocessors
You can switch it on for a few people first and see how it goes. Microsoft's own guide has the details.
It's worth knowing that Claude in Copilot runs outside Microsoft's EU Data Boundary. For most small businesses that's probably fine, but if you handle anything sensitive, check with whoever looks after GDPR for you first.
I use Claude every day for development work, so I'm a bit biased. If you'd like a hand looking at your Copilot setup, drop me an email.
